New Hampshire Math Trends by Subgroup
Math proficiency rates for students in grades 3-8, by subgroup, between 2018-2026.
1. State Education Agencies (SEAs) did not administer assessments in Spring 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
STATE NOTE. Results reflect students in grades 3-8 scoring proficient on the New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System (NHSAS), which began in 2018; 2026 data accessed 9/8/26. The New Hampshire Dept. of Ed. (NHDOE) publishes student counts as ranges rather than exact values; this figure uses range midpoints for calculations. We exclude Grade 11 SAT data here; statewide figures published by NHDOE combine data across Grades 3-8 and Grade 11. In 2018 and 2019, districts participating in the PACE pilot reported locally set achievement levels in some grades and are included in the statewide totals.
PROFICIENCY. New Hampshire reports 4 achievement levels. Proficiency here is reported as students reaching levels 3 or 4 on the assessment.
SUBGROUP NOTE. Student subgroups may be defined differently depending on the State Education Agency (SEA), and not all subgroups are available from all SEAs (some subgroups may not have available data across all years or select years). In NH, Non-SWD and Not Econ. Disadv. start in 2024 because NHDOE didn't report comparison groups before then. SWD= Students with disabilities. EL= English learners.
DATE. This figure was published 9/10/26 by the Education Data Center (EDC).
