FWISD third graders lag behind Texas in reading proficiency

For eight years, Fort Worth ISD has remained behind Texas in the number of third graders meeting grade-level expectations on the reading STAAR. On the 2026 test, FWISD was 10 percentage points behind the state after receiving the same proficiency rate of 41% from the previous year.
