FarmKind analysis of USDA data for 2022 shows that megafarms with herds of >2,500 dairy cows account for 45% of the national dairy production (despite making up <3.5% of total dairy farms). The map below is of dairy production, not sales to customers (states with 0% megafarms predominantly consume dairy produced in other states)
