More than 96% of Gaza Strip residents are in a hunger crisis

As of May 2024, conditions are worse the farther north in Gaza a person is located, where higher proportions of people are in more severe situations. In the southernmost area, around the city of Rafah, 85% of people are at "crisis" levels or above. In the central area of the Gaza Strip, in and around the city of Deir el-Balah, 95% of people are in crisis or worse. And in the northernmost region, often called North Gaza, 100% of people are in crisis or worse.
