Crime Victims Fund end of fiscal year fund balance

The unencumbered end of year fund balance for FY 24 appears higher than it actually is, according to the Justice Department. Almost $2 billion is held up due to pending lawsuits, and as of early September $1.047 billion of it was earmarked for remaining obligations in FY 24, meaning the true fund amount is less than $300 million.
