Outside of Denver, Southern Colorado Has State's Highest Fatal Overdose Rates

Some states require schools to stock the opioid reversal drug naloxone. In Colorado, it's up to each district to decide. Most school districts in counties with the highest fatal drug overdose rates are not enrolled to receive naloxone from the state’s Naloxone Bulk Purchase Fund.

Note: Crude rates of overdose deaths due to any drug from 2020-2022. Counties in gray had fewer than three overdoses, and their data was suppressed for confidentiality.
