Hunger Among Seniors Varies Widely In Major Cities

Nationwide, nearly 8% of Americans 60 and older were “food insecure” in 2017, meaning they lacked consistent access to enough food. But rates varied in metropolitan areas with populations of more than a million, from as high as 17% in Memphis to as low as 3% in Minneapolis-St. Paul.
