ZIP codes with heat-related hospitalizations, ER visits

These ZIP codes are based on where patients resided in 2017 when they had a heat-related illness in which they sought medical attention. The rate per 100,000 people was calculated by dividing the number of heat-related hospitalizations and ER visits into the estimated population. The higher the rate, the darker the color.

Hospital and ER data is from Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. Population by zip code (2018) is from Esri and the U.S. Census Bureau. ZIP codes in white may indicate a lake or an area without a ZIP code. ZIP codes in grey did not meet the threshold of more than 10 cases of heat-related illness.
