At Harvard Business School, management and leadership are woven into every course and case. Not surprisingly, U.S. News ranks HBS as the top MBA program for general management, based on surveys from b-school deans and directors. However, HBS general management grads don’t earn the highest paychecks on average. That honor goes to Columbia Business School, where 11 graduates from the 2015 Class averaged $129,727 (Compared to the 84 HBS grads making $118,923). Stanford and Wharton, which rank second and third in general management, also report healthy starting salaries – $123,043 and $117,735, respectively. The biggest surprise? The Yale School of Management, where 18 general management grads averaged $119,943 to start – a number slightly inflated by one grad carting off a $250,000 salary.
