Between December 2017 and January 2021, the State Department processed almost 100,000 immigrant and nonimmigrant visas that were subject to Muslim ban restrictions. Iran, Yemen, Syria and Somalia were all part of the initial batch of countries affected by the first iteration of the ban. Almost 50% of the waivers allowing people to enter went to Yemenis, while more than 70% of the denials went to Iranians.
