Sacramento County fentanyl-related deaths by month

Data from the Sacramento County Coroner's Office show at least 841 resident deaths from 2018 through early October 2023 in which fentanyl or mixed drug intoxication including fentanyl was listed as a cause. At least 240 fentanyl-related deaths have been confirmed this year, the highest annual total to date.

County data as of Nov. 14 show four confirmed fentanyl deaths for October 2023. The month's reported total is likely to rise as additional cause-of-death determinations are made.
