A map of Spain showing, on a colour-coded scale, the percentage of African immigrants out of the total population in each province. African immigrants are less concentrated than other immigrants in the main urban areas and on the archipelagos. They are distributed more evenly across Spain, with a greater presence in those provinces where the agri-food sector plays a significant role, whether in the form of intensive farming and/or the meat and canning industries (Catalonia, Almería and Murcia). Ceuta and Melilla are special cases: in both cities, the population of Moroccan origin accounts for a much higher proportion than in the rest of Spain: 21% of residents in Melilla and 11% of residents in Ceuta were born in Morocco, although the total population of Moroccan origin (i.e. including the children and grandchildren of Moroccans) is estimated to be between 40% and 55%.
