Alberta’s seed and pre-seed medians diverged in 2025

In H1 2026, both stages recorded less funding and fewer deals than in H1 2025. Full years 2024–2025 and matched H1 periods (January–June). Capital and median disclosed round size in CAD millions; deals are counts.

Alberta Pre-Seed and Seed, full years 2024 and 2025 and H1 2025 and H1 2026, January–June. Pre-seed’s disclosed median fell from CAD 1.000 million to 0.840 million in 2025, while seed’s rose from 1.750 million to 2.375 million. In H1 2026 pre-seed capital fell from CAD 5.34 million to 3.94 million and deals from 7 to 5. Seed capital fell from CAD 30.85 million to 22.16 million and deals from 9 to 7. H1 medians moved from 0.670 to 0.524 million for pre-seed and from 3.025 to 3.000 million for seed. Missing amounts are excluded from dollar measures.
