One-third of kids in Sacramento County foster care are Black
The percentage of Black children entering foster care in Sacramento County has hovered between 30% to 40% for the last 25 years. As of July, 34% of children in foster care were Black, the highest percentage of any racial/ethnic group in Sacramento County.
Black children are overrepresented in the child welfare system as Blacks make up just 10% of the county's total population.
