America's dust storm frequency has doubled since 2011

From 1996 to 2014, just one year saw the number of dust storms top 80. But since 2015, that threshold has been crossed six times. In 2022, 238 dust storms occurred, an increase largely attributed to extreme drought, heat and wind speeds in the Southwest.
