Global Witness took the total emissions companies declared for their cocoa sourcing in 2024 and divided it by total purchased volume for the same year, based on data from Cocoa Barometer

Emissions for cocoa sourcing taken from companies' own reporting. Cross-company comparison should be treated as estimation only and with due caution as different companies use different GHG methodologies for their supply chains, which can yield different results. For many companies, cocoa intensity has likely fallen in 2025. See methodology for full details.
