Cost of naturalisation as a British citizen (2025 adjusted)
Cost of naturalisation as a British citizen under s.6(1). Section 6(1) of the British Nationality Act 1981 is the default provision allowing naturalisation. Someone married to a British citizen will instead naturalise under section 6(2), for which the fee has often been lower. Fees for tests proving knowledge of life and language in the UK are excluded. The inflation adjustment allows real-terms comparison of costs from 1990 to 2025.
