Table 4: Approximate storage costs
($/MMBtu / $/kg H₂)

*Assumes eight hours of storage of hydrogen fuel for a 200MW plant with a conservative heat rate of 7000 Btu/kWh. We assumed 12 personnel for 24/7 operation for labor costs and maintenance costs of about 3% of capex. For variable O&M costs, the energy required for liquefaction which was assumed to be solar power ($25/MWh) with 30% capacity factor, compression and cooling were included for liquid tank storage costs and the maximum injection/withdrawal rates were included for the salt cavern costs.
