US households that skipped necessities to pay energy bills

The Census Pulse Survey in 2024 found that half of low-income households skipped basic necessities, such as medicine or food, during the previous 12 months to pay their energy bills.

Bars show 51.9% of low-income households earning less than $50,000 a year and 34.3% of all households said they skipped necessities such as food or medicine in the previous year to pay their energy bill.
