The share of Americans enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which helps low-income Americans buy groceries, ranges from a low of 4.8% in Utah to a high of 21.2% in New Mexico.

This data is from the 2024 fiscal year. Americans residing in Puerto Rico are eligible for a similar program, the Nutrition Assistance Program – known as NAP in English and PAN in Spanish.
