Donor-advised funds, in a research project's sample, disbursed nearly $20 billion from 2014 to 2018 to education-focused nonprofits and almost $10 billion to churches and other religious organizations. Other charitable categories, such as health and arts and culture, drew less funding from these financial accounts, which are often called DAFs.
