Tariffs paid by U.S. businesses ballooned from 2017 to 2019

The tariffs President Trump placed on $340 billion worth of Chinese imports, as well as tariffs on other products from all over the world, cost U.S. businesses $71 billion in 2019. That trade war significantly increased production costs for American companies and raised consumer prices from 2017 to 2019, research showed.
