Calls for help leaped in 2020 in N.J.

Calls to the state's main suicide hotlines jumped more than 20% last year compared to 2019 as the coronavirus pandemic brought new stresses to mental health. In total, there were 57,059 calls in 2020, versus 47,162 the year before.

Data covers calls to the NJ Hopeline and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline from New Jersey.
