Breaking down PPP loans to sports properties by industry category

Note: SBJ analyzed 661,219 rows and 15 columns of data issued by the Small Business Administration to determine how sports organizations and properties utilized the PPP loan program. For the analysis, SBJ eliminated sports bars, fitness clubs (except ones that were fiscally associated with a pro team), sports medicine facilities, auto repair shops and motorcycle dealers with the word ‘sports,’ and even a convalescent home that were coded in the government’s data as a company doing business in sports or entertainment. Venues such as public golf courses and tennis courts were included in calculations only if they host a pro or major amateur event.
