1 Out of 5 Letters Arrive Late by the USPS' Own Performance Standards

An analysis of 426 letters sent cross-country in August by NBC journalists found approximately 20% of all letters sent arrive late by the USPS' own performance standards - an analysis consistent with a smaller study NBC ran in July.

USPS' 2020 performance target was 96.5% for 2-day mail and 95.25% for 3-day mail respectively.

First-class mail sent is split by classification - mail that has arrived after its classification is considered late.
