Test scores show Minnesota's persistent achievement gaps
About one-third of Black students are proficient in reading by fourth grade and in math by eighth grade, compared to more than half of all students, according to a Minneapolis Federal Reserve analysis of Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments data.
The report's authors wrote that they used fourth grade reading because literacy at that age is important to learning later on, and eighth grade math because it is linked to college and career readiness.
