Even in Denmark, women pay a 'motherhood penalty'

Despite having one of the world's 's strongest safety nets, the women still experience what's known as the "motherhood penalty" in Denmark. Researchers found that Danish women born in the 1960s received 80% of what they missed in earned income through an array of government benefits – and that the disparity between their earnings and the earnings of childless women eventually went away.
