charter schools licensed teachers

In North Carolina, teachers have to be licensed to teach at traditional public schools, with a few exceptions. But in charter schools, only 50 percent of the teachers in the school need to be licensed. It’s one of the ways that taxpayer funded charter schools are exempt from the requirements that traditional public schools must follow. Percentage of licensed teachers does not include those are are working toward receiving a license. Data is for the 2016-17 school year.
