Get dinged during Roadcheck? Delay comes with a cost

Using Overdrive's Load Profit Analyzer tool for the basic calculations, this example illustrates the profit impacts of added time for a Dallas to Chicago load (950 miles, 2 days) booked at last week's $2.44 spot market average. A $556-per-day profit for the easily two-day-achievable load is eroded nearly two-fold with, say, an out-of-service order, subsequent repair delay, and just one extra day under load. Fixed costs per day ($256 for the average owner) never stop and have to be accounted for, to say nothing of missed opportunity on the next load.
