New data from nonpartisan analysts shows Connecticut's highest earners paid 80%, on average, of their 2021 state income tax liability through quarterly installments, which typically are used to report capital gains and other investment income. By comparison, the median earning household, which made $83,572 two years ago, paid 82% of their state income taxes through their job via paycheck withholding.
