Like healthcare, there will always be a need for MBAs in energy, be it leadership, finance, logistics, or sustainable practices. In this field, employers pay a premium for prestige. Among the Top 6 American MBA programs, only Northwestern Kellogg is not represented among the highest-paid graduates in the field. Harvard MBAs drew the highest starting salaries in energy. The dozen graduates recruited by energy firms averaged a $172,354 base in 2024, up over $19,000 from the previous year. Stanford GSB grads also attracted packages averaging $166,700, though this number was down $1,400 from 2023. Five business schools also reported a graduate or more who earned $200,000 or more to start, including a Carnegie Mellon Tepper grad who raked in a $210,000 base.
