Going on Strong: Sustained Growth despite Relative Power Losses

Summing up the country developments from 2005 to 2017, all G20 member states present positive trends in their domestic development despite relative power shifts. This is indicated by the BPSM Rate of Country Change (CC) which is positive for all G20 member states. While the UK presents smallest development rate and even a dowturn over the last years, Indonesia shows the steepest domestic upward trend.

The Power Scores (PS) correspond with the average country shares of a particular year. The Power Shift Rate (PSR) is the difference between the Power Scores of two points in time. The rate of country change examines the development of the country figures without comparing them to the global total. This model reveals whether a country has experienced a positive or negative trend over the years.
