All race groups and ethnicities of NC residents have had steady rate increases in cremations. About one in three Blacks are cremated after death compared to slightly more than one in two whites and Hispanics, as of 2020. Since 2000, Asians have maintained the highest cremation rates dropping below 50% only once in 2003.
