Median percentage of students chronically absent at Maryland public schools

Across all grade levels, the median school's chronic absence rate of 24% is down more than 3.5 percentage points over last year but still 8 points higher than before the pandemic. The metric accounts for 15% of the score that determines a school's star rating.

Chronic absenteeism reports the percentage of students at each school who are absent at least 10% of school days, and who are a member of that school for at least 10 days.
