As UC's overall admissions rate grew, its most popular campuses became even more selective

Even as the University of California enrolled about 19,000 more California undergraduates since 2022, including 9,000 more at UC Berkeley, UCLA and UC San Diego, Californians seeking to enter as freshmen at those three sought-after campuses contend with low chances of gaining admission.
