Kansas counties with agreements to coordinate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement

Since 1996, local law enforcement agencies have been able to sign agreements with federal immigration enforcement in order to take on limited immigration work. These agreements, called 287(g) agreements, set the terms of the working relationship between ICE and local agencies.

ICE data shows no agreements in Kansas prior to 2020 — when two sheriffs' departments signed agreements. This year, 15 sheriffs' offices, one police department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation signed agreements with the agency.
