2.3 million U.S. women live in maternity care 'deserts'

A third of all counties in the US (over 1,000 counties) are designated as maternity healthcare deserts; with no birthing facilities, and no obstetric clinicians (OB-GYNs, family physicians) delivering babies in the area.
