The United Workers Union surveyed 101 correctional officers at Alice Springs Correctional Centre.
It found half of all Alice Springs prison workers have been assaulted while on the job, while 96% did not feel safe at work.
Workers described a "crisis" within the centre, as overcrowding, understaffing, over heating and poor management lead to more staff leaving the centre.
