The Effects of Soda Taxes in U.S. Cities

A study of taxes by large U.S. cities on sugar-sweetened beverages two years after implementation showed that prices increased by an average of 33% and purchases decreased by roughly the same amount. The increase in prices and the decline in purchases were higher in Philadelphia than in other cities in the study.
