Figure 13. Average taxable income, by nationality, September 2025 (€)
Bar chart showing the average contribution base, by nationality, in September 2025. The data show that the wage earnings of European immigrants are significantly higher than those of Spaniards in the case of the French, Germans, Swedes, Dutch, Belgians and Irish; slightly higher in the case of Italians, Portuguese, Hungarians, British and Poles; and lower in the case of Lithuanians, Romanians, Bulgarians and Ukrainians. The cases of Poles, Portuguese and Hungarians are particularly striking: whilst their per capita incomes in their countries of origin are lower than those of Spaniards, their wages here are higher than those of Spaniards, indicating that the type of immigration Spain receives from these countries is specifically highly skilled. The opposite is true of Lithuania, where per capita income is now higher than in Spain, yet immigrants from that country earn lower wages in Spain.
