The parasite Plasmodium falciparum causes more than 90% of malaria cases worldwide. As of June 2024, 56 countries where this parasite is endemic have reported artemisinin resistance or sensitivity.
The map shows 12 countries in Africa and Asia where resistance to artemisinin has been reported in, Plasmodium fulsiparum, and 44 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin/South America where sensitivity to artemisinin has been reported.
