CPJ’s review of journalists and media workers killed in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory (IOPT)

Scope of the review
CPJ reviewed 229 cases of journalists and media workers killed in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory since October 2023. The review included cases publicly listed in CPJ’s database, as well as cases removed before the review.
The review was conducted from June 7 to July 7, 2026, followed by an external audit from July 15 to August 17, 2026, and resulted in 22 cases removed and 6 reinstated. Changes in reported totals are shown below.
