Based on a 2022 DLS analysis of state government vacancies, state salaries for two-thirds of high-need job categories were well below those for similar online job postings.

The published DLS analysis does not report the total number of job types included or the number within $5,000 of comparable salaries. Based on visual inspection of the accompanying chart, the number in the central group is unambiguously between 200 and 600.
