N.J. deaths during the pandemic by percentage increase

Which communities were hit the hardest as coronavirus swept the state? Mortality data shows that from March through June, about 16,900 more people died in New Jersey than in 2018 and 2019, regardless of cause. The chart below shows the percentage that deaths increased town by town.

For statistical purposes, communities with fewer than 35 deaths were excluded. Increases compare March through June 2020 with the average number of deaths in those months in 2018 and 2019.
