Free trade zones, or foreign trade zones, allow businesses to accept imports from international suppliers without paying import fees, or pay a reduced fee. The popularity of FTZs are growing in Colorado after decades of having just two counties approved in the state: Denver and El Paso counties. A move to add the Western Slope and expand the Front Range's zone westward are pending, while the Town of Limon recently snapped up the FTZ status for counties east and south of Denver.
