The percentage of bicyclists killed based upon the type of road they were riding on, compared to the proportion of that type of road in the American road network. Despite consisting of a minority of road mileage in the United States, most bicyclists are killed on arterial roadways. Local streets consist of a majority of the roads in the US, but also feature the lowest proportion of bicyclist fatalities aside from Interstates and other controlled-access highways.
