The highest electricity bills from investor-owned utilities nationwide, in 2025

Florida's four investor-owned utilities rank among the 50 highest typical residential bill amounts in the U.S., per 1,000 kWh, for companies with more than 1,000 customers. Florida Power & Light ranks at No. 42 with a typical bill amount of $162.

Notes: The data shows the top 20 highest residential bills of investor-owned utilities as well as Florida Power & Light at No. 42. The rankings also include utilities operating in Hawaii and Alaska, which tend to have higher electricity costs than states in the continental U.S.
