How many federal civilian workers live in each state and Washington, D.C., and those workers' share of that location's total civilian labor force

Data on federal workers is from May 2024. Data on state civilian labor force is preliminary and from December 2024.

The map excludes federal workers living abroad (30,407), in U.S. territories (18,220), or in locations the government lists as "unspecified" (4,634) or "suppressed" (271,758). Employees of the FBI, DEA, ATF, Secret Service, or Bureau of the Mint who work in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area are listed as living in D.C.
