COVID-19 vaccine wastage is reported to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry. All providers that receive COVID-19 vaccines from the state of Michigan’s allocation are required to report wastage to MCIR. Providers that receive COVID-19 vaccines through the federal government are not required to report wastage to MCIR, and instead report it to CDC. Examples of immunization providers that report wastage to MCIR include hospitals/health systems, local health departments, urgent cares and doctor’s offices (family practice, pediatric, OB/GYN, etc.)
