Most States Saw an Increase in the Percent of Depression and Anxiety Medication Prescriptions Filled During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Color and hue correspond to the percent change in depression and anxiety medication prescriptions filled in that state between 2022 and 2019.

The percent of prescription fills was calculated using the number of all depression and anxiety drugs filled as a share of all drugs (excluding vaccines) filled. State mental health rankings were obtained from Mental Health America's "The state of mental health in America 2023" report. More information on the data can be found in the methodology section.
